Čtivo
The book Čtivo is the first comprehensive guide to interwar popular literature. In addition to eight interpretative chapters, it offers a clear chronological overview and twenty analytical studies of specific texts that reveal the diversity and originality of period reading material.
The deliberately chosen soft binding refers to the format of a “cheap” paperback, and the high-volume paper invites reading anywhere, despite the book’s considerable length.
The deep salmon color flows through the book block as a typical tool of the often loud appeal of popular production. For the typesetting, we chose the slightly eccentric Nib typeface, rich in contrasting visual gestures derived from calligraphy and carved lettering. It creates a unique blend of playfulness and austerity.
